HSD Educators Partner to Pen Book to Help Parents

Three HSD educators partnered to publish a book aimed at helping parents raise successful children. Zabrina Grisby, MSW, Dr. Audrey McKenna Wittenauer, and Dr. Karla Holland used their combined 50 years of experience in the fields of education and social work to pen “#SmartParentsDoThis ~ A Parent Handbook on How to Raise Smart Kids.”

The book is a blueprint to help parents create a home environment conducive to success in school and life. Some of the topics covered in the book include establishing a consistent bedtime routine, defining what success looks like, and creating a balance between parenting and other responsibilities.

“This accomplishment is an example of the talent and teamwork that exists in our district,” said Dr. Nettie Collins-Hart, Superintendent of HSD. “Through this book, strategies that are used to help our families will be shared with the entire world.”

“#SmartParentsDoThis ~ A Parent Handbook on How to Raise Smart Kids” was published in March of 2021.
